Karl has been playing and writing music since he got his first guitar at the age of 4. In high school in Campbell River B.C., he played in the high school band, and of course, rock bands. Several trips back to Dublin with his family gave him a close look at Irish life and music. He completed classical and jazz music studies at Malaspina College, and then taught music and played in Easy Money, a well-known Victoria band. After moving to Vancouver, he began writing and playing with Helen Gone, releasing two independent CD's, Real Real Gone and Happy Enough.
Karl is a talented and versatile multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, who brings his songwriting and arranging skills to The Malarkey's Celtic repertoire. His blog about guitars and stuff is at Electric Bard.
