Born and raised in St. Paul, Alberta, Lisa began piano lessons at the age of six; shortly thereafter, under the tutelage of her mother (Gloria "Send-Your-Voice-Like-An-Arrow" Grekul), she entered the first phase of her performance career as a wedding/anniversary/ funeral singer. After graduating from high school, in Swaziland, Lisa spent a year in Toronto working as a singer/songwriter. She studied music at the University of Alberta and also began channelling her creative energy into country rock. Before moving to Kelowna, she lived in Edmonton and Vancouver and played in several bands, including 52nd Street and River Kaleland. When she's not behind the keyboard, making "sham rock" with The Malarkeys, Lisa (Dr. G!) can be found behind the lectern, waxing poetic about Canadian literature at UBC Okanagan. http://web.ubc.ca/okanagan/critical/faculty/lgrekul.html http://blogs.students.ubc.ca/lgrekul/
