Damn
Fine Spin
by Gail and
Karl Hourigan
Early in the morning in the month of May
The cycling teams head out to train on the highway
They ride on out to Sidney down the old Pat Bay
Then up Mt. Doug and back again in time for tea
While his mates were spinning
out on the highway
Your man Demian Paul was left behind again
Where’s the joy in riding 100k a day
I need something more to while the time away
You can ride the Malahat the
North Shore Mountains too But
Vancouver to Kelowna that’s what I’m going to do
He
loaded up his Norco with power bars and such
And he left Vancouver before the sun was up
He took a tour through Abbotsford thanks to the Mounties
And after 50k he said I'll stop for coffee
You can ride the Malahat the
North Shore Mountains too But Vancouver to Kelowna that’s what I’m
going to do
He beat the trucks to Chilliwack
he left them in the dust
Beside the mighty Fraser he began to wake up
I’ll go a little harder he said approaching Hope
And so before noon he reached the Coquihalla slopes
Up the Coquihalla and back
down again
From Vancouver to Kelowna is a damn fine spin
He hammered on through Merrit
like an eagle on the wing
And up on the Connector he began to sing
He cruised into Kelowna just as the sun went down
And as he coasted in he said I’m ready for a round
Up the Coquihalla and back
down again
From Vancouver to Kelowna is a damn fine spin
Up the Coquihalla and back down again
From Vancouver to Kelowna is a damn fine spin
