Talk to the Malarkeys

The Old Wild Boar

by Karl and Gail Hourigan

When the day is done and I am thirsty
I believe a drink or two won't hurt me
but I won't drink alone, or text your mobile phone,

'cause you know where I'll be

When I walk in through that door it feels like heaven
Emma and Siobhan are there at seven
Daragh's in at eight, and Brian's running late
but there's no rush at all

I can't wait, I can't wait, to walk back through that door
I can't wait, I can't wait, to see my friends once more at the Old Wild Boar

Talk about your day and how's the weather
or politics, religion, your new sweater
movies books and food, whatever strikes our mood
laughing all the while

I can't wait, I can't wait, to walk back through that door
I can't wait, I can't wait, to see my friends once more at the Old Wild Boar

so this is how I want to live, a little take and a lot of give
and when I'm old won't someone please, help me to my favourite seat

When the day is done and I am thirsty
I believe a drink or two won't hurt me
but I won't drink alone, or text your mobile phone,

'cause you know where I'll be

I can't wait, I can't wait, to walk back through that door
I can't wait, I can't wait, to see my friends once more at the Old Wild Boar
